i'd find this awesome and i sign it, it should give also yearly account based gifts, that you get only once naturally. 1 for every year of the age of your account.
I belogn to the huge masses of players with soon to become 3 year old accounts, but none of my characters iwll become 3 years old, due to perma deleting for failed survivor tries or so, due to the fact, that a deleted a chara ,to created oen with an other new profession, hundreds of reasons, why none of my charas is 3 years old, heck i have even none, that is 1 year old lol and I'm sure, I'm about that not the only gw player out there...
There could be a 3 special minipet reward lists of the really most wanted ones, because i personally doubt, that GW1 will see a 4th year, before GW2 is out
or this special reward for the account based gifts could be somethign different, than minis. But ill write later about it, now i go sleep XD

My oldest toon has been deleted, my 4 oldest have been in fact. I don't care that much as it is a game. If my 5th oldest gets deleted, I'll play my 6th oldest, if that gets deleted, I'll play my 7th, and so forth till all are gone, then I'll just play another game. No big deal.

Strangely enough, you don't think someone should be emotionally attached to pixels, but you support the idea of getting a pixel birthday present early. It's just pixels. Can't spend pixel gold in the real world, or play Barbies with your pixel Gwen.
|
I never said I support early presents, what I support is a new type of present, one based on account instead of character. My reason is because a person my be dedicated to the game, but not dedicated to a character. That simple

So here is my detailed suggestion for account based gifts
Year 1: 1 additional free Character Slot
Year 2: 1 randomous Minipet out of these 14:
White:
- Banished Dream Rider
- Ancient Scale
- Crested Ntouka Bird
- Smoke Phantom
- Fleshreaver Nephilim
- Stormcloud Incubus
- Tormented Land
- Avicara Ardent
Purple
- Margonite Ascendant
- Smite Crawler
- Krait Devouss
Gold
- Fenrir
- Cyndr
Green
- Glint
Year 3:
Choose out 1 of 3 possible gifts
- Another 1 free Character Slot or
- 1 of the rare limited Minipets (Island Guardian, Kanaxai ect) or
- Max 3 Titles of your choice for the Character, that is bonded as your Account Name.
That would be awesome and so would get also people a little gift for their general time they play Guild Wars, not beign bonded with the dumb age of an character, because in the background itsa only the age of the account imo, that is important, not that of characters.

As much as I'd be happy with this, since my 34 month account has never had one char with a birthday, I think it's a bad idea. Account age means you've owned the game for a while... character age shows (a litte bit) more dedication.

I kept Jongo for 2.5 yrs - then killed him in a post-EotN rage-quit. I wasn't really attached - I was going to kill him earlier, but didn't because of the presents. The presents were the only attachment and a very artificial one at that. I was bothered because of that issue, and that issue alone.
(As an aside - truth be told, I've rarely finished an RPG on my first character. Experimentation is a huge part of the experience, for me, and I don't care what anyone thinks that says about my level of dedication - as if that should even be judged on such arbitrary grounds!)
I hate the current concept of Bday gifts. It's like everything ANet has done with the game - reward one particular style of play and ignore everyone else. I'm not signing, though. It's a positive idea, but I know it wouldn't make any difference to the contempt I feel whenever this issue comes up. I'd still not be getting the same rewards for still being here, as those who play auntie ANet's way.
You know what would make me happy? A toggle to select whether I receive gifts based on the character age, or the age of the character slot. Less roleplay and more equality for me please.
And the usual "you just want free stuff, how about a win button" crowd - here's a /Yawn in advance, so I don't have to bother with a response.

There is already a mini-pet that you can get, no matter what age your character is, provided that you have all the campaigns needed: Black Moa Chick.

Everyone gets free stuff for every character on every birthday of that character. I think thats pretty sufficient and absolutely fair and equal to everyone.
